NAV & NATTER

If you are a complete beginner or feeling out of practice, this fun and informal session will be the one for you.  These half day walks, for 2 to 8 people, will introduce the following key skills of navigation:

 

  • Setting the map
  • Estimating and measuring distance & timing 
  • Making sense of the map features
  • The importance of keeping your head up!
  • Learn the lingo…tick off’s, handrails, catching features
  • Introduction to the compass
  • Introduction to route planning & strategies

Half Day

3.5 to 4 hours

approx. 5km     £40

Current routes from Pyecombe, Devils Dyke, Steyning, Sullington.

A circular route at a relaxed pace with plenty of stops to introduce the skills. Moderate walking fitness required, hill ascents/descents, stiles likely, staying on paths/tracks. Cafe option where possible!
